As a Student Advisor Level 1, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success and personal development of students at Eastern Washington University. You will work closely with students to provide guidance on course selection, academic planning, and career exploration, ultimately helping them achieve their educational and professional goals. Student Advisors collaborate with students and campus partners to support students’ persistence, degree completion, and connections to EWU. Professional advisors foster student growth and independence through an appreciative inquiry and developmental advising model. Professional advisors build and maintain strong relationships with advisees to provide holistic and proactive wraparound services to all students based on their individual needs. This position requires a passion for student success, strong communication skills, and a dedication to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Empathy and the ability to work with student across a wide variety of populations
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards with protected information
- Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field
- Two years of advising experience
- Experience using student information systems (e.g., Banner, Navigate, Degree Works)
- Knowledge of higher education policies (e.g., FERPA), academic regulations, and basics of degree requirements
